This week I watched "Practical Motion Background Workshop with Richard Harrington" via lynda.com I zeroed in on this course because I want to make my project have trippy transitions and strange lulling moments intertwined with our daily life & interviews (almost have these moments be like time passing). Rich went through a lot of information starting with the basics of the camera and props I'd want to consider filming and manipulating. He had a turn table placed against a curved, black background & put jewelry, candle holders, vases, and other water, vinegar, food coloring things on the turn table and shot at a shallow depth of field. With hand held lights he manipulated reflections and racked focus creating interesting abstract backgrounds to blend inside premier pro. He even went over things in bridge, which i never knew a lot about, and went over easy ways to get organized! I learned easy quick keys like "shift, +" to switch though different blending modes & other adjustments from layer to layer.
